BLACK DIAMOND RACING
These are isolation products of the finest and most flexible system, designed to control vibrations in audio equipment.
Different types of components require different characteristics, perhaps even in the same base structure, therefore we have designed the Mk3 and the Mk4, the Mk3 being warmer, while the Mk4 is more detailed. The approach results in a structure that is not only extremely resistant to resonance, but will also dampen off the vibrations, to which it is exposed.
Pyramid Cones
These are the basic building blocks of the BDR system, the initial interface in a vibration control system, and should be the first pieces utilised. They have proven an effective means of control under all types of components: speakers, turntables, CD players and transports, DACs, amplifiers, video equipment, even computers and medical equipment. With a crush point of 10,000 lbs (4,545 kg) each, they can be used virtually anywhere, points downwards. The Mk3 are normally used under solid state and digital equipment, and the Mk4 under valves (tubes). This is only a guide, and it may be preferred the other way round or mixed, as with Audio Aero equipment. To reach the next level of performance we recommend that they be combined with.....
The Puck, Mini Pucks
These are designed to serve a variety of functions in one product. It is approx. 2.75 inches in diameter, with a threaded hole throughout, with countersinking on both sides. It can be screwed together with the Cones, placed against the speaker or component chassis, it may be bolted to a speaker or component with the included studs, or it may be used as a cone cup, using the countersunk hole. This flexibility will allow for change of location set-up. Mini Pucks offer a more economical solution for lighweight equipment.
Thick Pucks
Thick pucks provide a visual and mechanical advantage, giving
astonishing results under large speakers and heavy components
The Pits, Mini Pits, Thick Pits
The pits are similar to the Puck, but with a dimple on one side and being threaded on the other. This provides a superior performance when used with a cone cup, though it is able to be used as a Puck if so desired.
Tweaking is an objective analysis of your system and surroundings. Beware of the influence of other factors and structures in the set-up. Metal cones will tend to sound bright, while structures incorporating sand or MDF will sound dark, so that you need to be aware of the impact of these other structures in your system. Start with the Pyramid Cones, trying both types to hear what works best with what components, and then move to the next level of performance in the entire system, remembering to trust your ears, which is the most important rule.
